Character Over Title

Our September theme at T2B was around feedback and feedforward, and our October theme is around the expertise paradox, the expectation that we bring both technical and generalist expertise to our role as biopharma communicators.

An apt way to bridge those themes is reflecting on a line that I know resonated with many of you all from last week’s September Comm Convo: the concept that titles are rented, but character is permanent.

Titles come and go as companies reorganize, as teams shift, as careers evolve (and we’re seeing a TON of this right now!).

But how you show up, the way you approach challenges, and the trust you build—that’s permanent.

It’s a reminder that our real identity as communicators is about being the colleague people turn to for perspective and counsel.

And that grounding frees us to operate as peers—or even leaders—regardless of what the org chart says.
