IR September 2025 Resource: Investor Relations During Medical Meetings
As investor relations (IR) professionals, we play both a strategic and communications-focused role at medical meetings, regardless of whether or not we are onsite to attend.
The role of IR for a medical meeting is likely to depend on a few key factors:
- The size of the medical meeting (A company may have different activities and level of presence at an ASCO [American Society of Clinical Oncology] or ASH [American Society of Hematology] meeting vs. some of the smaller meetings)
- Is the company presenting data? And what format is the presentation (poster, oral presentation, late breaker)?
- Are competitors in the space presenting data that could have readthroughs to your company and investor perceptions of your company?
- Is the company hosting an investor/analyst event during the meeting?
- Will any of your KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) be attending the meeting?
Below you will find a quick and easy reference guide for investor relations professionals to ensure the company is set up for success with potential investor interactions around a medical meeting. A lot of this information may overlap with your communications colleagues, or if you wear BOTH hats, the other side of your job.
