The T2B Patient Advocacy & Engagement Roundtable unites biopharma communicators who are passionate about engaging patients as essential stakeholders. This roundtable focuses on helping communicators build authentic connections with patient communities and advocacy organizations, highlighting how meaningful engagement is not only the “right thing to do,” but also a critical driver of business success.
Roundtable objectives
- Create an environment where like-minded communicators exchange ideas, share experiences, and define best practices for patient-first storytelling.
- Develop frameworks for working with internal teams, such as medical affairs and R&D, to align patient advocacy efforts with overarching corporate goals.
- Explore ways to foster trust and credibility with patient communities through transparent, culturally sensitive, and compliant communication strategies.
- Provide tools to measure and articulate the impact of patient advocacy, demonstrating its value to internal stakeholders and clients, reinforcing its role as a business imperative.
About the chair
Mike Walsh, Founder & CEO, Patient Advocacy Strategies
Approaching 30 years of leadership in the life science industry, Mike is passionate about improving healthcare with proactive patient advocacy & engagement. After thriving in diverse, cross-functional roles at Amgen, Biogen, InterMune, Genentech and others, Mike crystalized his core professional and personal driver as patient centricity, and he founded Patient Advocacy Strategies in 2015.
As Founder & CEO of PAS, Mike and his team lead and counsel biotech companies and non-profit patient & disease organizations, forging trusted relationships with key opinion leaders, patient influencers, and advocacy groups. PAS provides strategic guidance, tactical execution and content development that manifests through patient-centric initiatives for companies from the pre-clinical stage to fully commercial biopharma.
Outside of growing PAS, Mike can be found outside of Boston and on the coast of Maine, exploring the outdoors with his wife and 3 children.
