Culture Connect June 2026 Resource: Stop the Silos – Building a Cohesive Culture in the Life Sciences

One of the most rewarding aspects of a career in the life science industry is working alongside teammates with a wide range of expertise to create something that really matters. From the office to the lab to the clinic, everyone plays an essential role in developing breakthrough treatments that could change the course of patients’ lives. People working in different departments often have different priorities and perspectives—for example, someone working in the lab full time will have an inherently different experience from someone working at corporate headquarters.

With different teams working diligently to achieve their goals, silos can become an unfortunate side effect. They can leave employees disconnected from colleagues, unaware of broader organizational priorities, and less connected to the company’s overall mission. Left unaddressed, these divides can limit collaboration, reduce engagement, and make it more difficult for employees to see how their work contributes to the bigger picture. A strong company culture, paired with a robust communications strategy, can help bridge these gaps by creating a shared understanding of how individual contributions support collective goals.
